Many economists have been protesting for months against the austerity policies imposed throughout Europe and further strengthened in the European fiscal Treaty. For example, Nobel Price Paul Krugman, recently stated it would be the "Europe's Economic Suicide".

Responding to passing of the Greek bailout plan this morning, UKIP Leader Nigel Farage said: "Greeks, beware of EU lenders bearing debts. They will strangle your economy and destroy your democracy. This so-called bailout will not help the Greek people one iota,only German and French banks.The Greeks don't need draconian death by a thousand cuts; they need the drachma back so they can reboot their economy. Cheap credit from inappropriate Euro membership was a disaster for the Greek economy. Eurozone membership is now also a disaster for their democracy.

Data that show a gradual decline in the general government deficit and demonstrate an improvement in the competitiveness of the Greek economy, were presented by Greece's Prime Minister L. Papademos to his counterparts during the recent summit of the European Council on 31st January, in an effort to alleviate the pressures of introducing new harsh measures.

President of the LAOS Georgios Karatzaferis just sent a letter "to all Greek people" explaining its support to the Government of Mr. Papademos : "We have been fellow travelers in the difficult, laborious path of this hard Marathon for the salvation of our economy and consequently of our country, so I know very well that most of you, if not all, have been exhausted by this nationwide effort. I do know that everybody’s life has changed. Especially for the weaker households, life has changed dramatically. We are now in a situation where we cannot grow up our own children all by ourselves..."

During the German occupation, the conquerors executed the residents of 89 Greek cities and villages. In addition to that, they burnt more than 1800 villages and settlements. Germany denied paying off what owes to my country as an obligation that arise from the "occupation loan" and the war reparations. At 1964, the German Chancellor Erhard promised paying the off the loan after the unification of Germany, which was realized in 1990. The German indebtedness to Greece because of all that happened during the 2nd World War is now evaluated to 575 billion dollars.
