Lorenzo Fontana elected Vice-president of Committee on Culture and Education

Mr Lorenzo Fontana MEP was elected Vice-president of the committee on culture and education. "I am particularly happy that I was assigned this position - declares Fontana - which is even more difficult to reach if we consider that my EFD group is in a minority position in the European Parliament."

"I want to thank Lega Nord - continues Fontana - which decided to invest in culture, believing that it is a more and more priority issue, and which has stated that I could be the right person to fulfil this difficult assignment. I will do everything in my power to enhance tradition, culture, languages and local identities in Europe, in order to improve and promote understanding between different cultures, but not their flattening or cancellation. On the contrary, I will try to let everyone understand that each local identity is a heritage for the whole Europe."
